The Officers of the Midland Gliding Club elected at the AGM on 30th March 2008 are:
Chairman: Jon Hall (staff, catering, web site, PR, publications)
Vice
Chairman: Chris Ellis (marketing, trial lessons)
Treasurer: Keith Mansell and Peter Claire
Secretary: Ann Parry
In addition the members of the management committee
are
Steve Gunn-Russell : airfield and grounds
Clive Jones: MT and winches
Mike Witton and Alan Reynolds: Buildings and Services
Dominic Haughton: membership recruitment and retention
Paul Stanley : CFI (non voting)
President: Keith Mansell
There is provision for club members to assist the executive
committee in a non-voting capacity by leading working
groups or being tasked with specific projects. As this
is a members' club, run and managed by the members,
any such practical assistance is greatly appreciated.
If you have any specific skills or want to help in
some way without getting involved in the politics,
please let the chairman know. Examples are John and
Ann Parry who have successfully edited and produced
the newsletters for several years and Nigel Holmes
who looks after radios and Derek Platt who looks after
the water supply.
The whole committee is re-elected each year at
the AGM usually held in March/April. Nominations
must be
received in the office at least 24 hours before
the date of the election. All nominations must be
seconded by another member. Both members must be
fully paid
up at the time of nomination
Officers and committee members can be contacted by
phone or email. Details available in the office.

Jon Hall, Chairman
Jon started gliding in 1988 at the age of 38 on a whim without ever having had an interest in aviation. He has been a member of the Long Mynd since 1989 in spite of first living in Chester and now in Bristol. He is also a member of the European Soaring Club at Ontur in Spain.
He has two Diamonds, still seeking that elusive Diamond Height, owning a part share in LS4a G-CHMX better known locally as PZ.
His day job is a strategic planning and design consultant for the heritage industries.
Jon served several terms on the BGA Executive with responsibilities for developing the CyberGlide Simulator and the club visits programme and representing the BGA on the organising committee of the 2005 Junior Worlds Championship. He has been on the MGC Committee for eight years, the last five as Vice Chairman.
